Admissions

Overview, Requirements & Procedures

Candidates should apply for admission as soon as they are ready in order to be officially accepted for a specific program and starting date. You are required to visit an American Career College campus prior to enrollment so that you may gain a better understanding of the college and view its facilities and equipment. You are also required to complete an application form and engage in a personal interview with an Admissions Representative. Family members are encouraged to participate in the enrollment process and ask questions.

Each program has specific admissions requirements, including entrance exams.  Applicants without a high school diploma or equivalent are eligible to apply for many of our programs, but must exceed a 200 (Verbal) and 210 (Quantitative) on the Wonderlic Basic Skills Ability-to-Benefit Exam.  Those applicants who have received their high school diploma or the equivalent will need to take the CPAt entrance/evaluation exam, which covers general education topics such as math and English.  Required scores for the CPAt entrance/evaluation exam vary by program of study.

Applicants seeking enrollment in either the Vocational Nursing program or Respiratory Therapy program are required to take the HESI exam in addition to the CPAt.  The HESI exam covers subjects relevant to healthcare training, and applicants must earn a score of 70% or higher.  For instructions on how to download the HESI exam review, click here.

Everyone worries about tests.  Just remember that thousands of ACC graduates have made it through this process on the way to the same change you are starting today.

Your admissions representative will explain the process for each program and go over any additional requirements.
