GED preparation
Some ACC programs require a high school diploma or GED. GED stands for General Educational Development, and is a nationally recognized certificate of high school equivalency. It consists of five tests over two days: writing, social studies, science, mathematics, and reading.
To help our students succeed, we offer GED preparation, practice testing, and on-campus GED testing in a comfortable, safe classroom environment.*
First, we’ll evaluate how you match up with the test, how long until you will be ready to pass it, and create an individualized schedule to prepare you for the GED.
We’ll also supply teaching, tutoring, and take-home study materials. If necessary, we will refer you to a public adult school for added help.
If you pass an official in-house practice test while an ACC student, ACC pays for your GED test fees. And we offer a $100 award for passing the GED and silver cords to wear at graduation. See the GED staff for details.
