Student Services

We know going to school is often a difficult decision. So at ACC, we try to make it easier by providing a number of services while you are enrolled. The Student Services staff was formed specifically to help attend to the day-to-day needs of our students. We provide information about transportation, childcare, professional counseling services available within the community, and academic tutoring. We will also help attend to any other special concerns which may arise. So if you have a question, just ask. That’s exactly what we’re here for.

Orientation

Prior to the first day of class, we hold a new student orientation for you. Each department makes presentations so that you’re aware of all available student services, can ask questions, and meet and mingle with your new classmates.

Advising/Tutoring Assistance

The faculty and staff have an open-door policy and are readily available to assist students. If you are experiencing academic difficulties, American Career College provides tutoring assistance.

Parking

The Los Angeles campus has two parking options available to students: street parking near and around the college, or monthly parking in a parking lot two blocks from the school at New Hampshire Ave. and Clinton Ave. Parking passes can be purchased from the Business Office. Students may be transported to and from the lot by shuttle.

The Anaheim Campus has free daily parking available around the campus as well as around La Palma Building 2. Students may be transported to and from the buildings by shuttle.

The Ontario Campus has free daily parking available around the campus.

Graduation Ceremony

Upon successful completion of the students’ designated program, graduates are encouraged to attend a graduation ceremony to recognize their efforts. Graduations occur twice a year per campus and are a great way to celebrate your achievements with family and friends.

Graduate Refresher Courses

American Career College offers its graduates the privilege of skill refresher courses. Courses, modules or terms may be audited at no additional charge, subject to class space and equipment availability.

GED preparation

Some ACC programs require a high school diploma or GED. GED stands for General Educational Development, and is a nationally recognized certificate of high school equivalency. It consists of five tests over two days: writing, social studies, science, mathematics, and reading.

To help our students succeed, we offer GED preparation, practice testing, and on-campus GED testing in a comfortable, safe classroom environment. First, we’ll evaluate how you match up with the test, how long until you will be ready to pass it, and create an individualized schedule to prepare you for the GED. We’ll also supply teaching, tutoring, and take-home study materials. If necessary, we will refer you to a public adult school for added help.

If you pass an official in-house practice test while an ACC student, ACC pays for your GED test fees. And we offer a $100 award for passing the GED and silver cords to wear at graduation. See the GED staff for details.
