Our program prepares students for the National Opticianry Exam and Contact Lens Registry Exam administered by the American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiners (ABO/NCLE). With these credentials, you'll be poised for a great entry-level position, rapid advancement and the ability to someday open your own store.

What do Optical Dispensing Specialists do?
Dispensing Opticians:
  • Recommend lenses, frames and lens coatings
  • Take patient measurements
  • Prepare work orders for labs
  • Fit eyeglasses
  • Repair broken frames
Ophthalmic Lab Technicians:
  • Cut, edge, tint and insert lenses into eyeglass frames
  • Inspect final product for quality and accuracy
Contact Lens Technicians:
  • Measure eye shape and size
  • Teach patients how to use and care for lenses
  • Ensure proper lens fit
